This is the production version of the 2022 Kia EV6, a monstrously powerful full electric vehicle with heaps of range and the kind of eye-catching design for which Kia's become famous.
In the near term, Kia Canada intends to deliver between 5,000 and 10,000 copies of the EV6 annually spread across three model lines: EV6, EV6 GT-Line, and EV6 GT.
There's a broad spread of power and range across the EV6 spectrum. In the 229-horsepower EV6 GT-Line, there will be over 510 kilometres of electric range, for example. But the EV6 will be available with up to – hold your breath – 576 horsepower. Expect the 0-100 km/h spring to take just 3.5 seconds.
EV customers are growing accustomed to ever-increasing horsepower figures and the kind of all-electric range that removes all manner of range anxiety. The 2022 Kia EV6, however, will deliver major power with major range in concert with rapid charging. Right now, it's believed the EV6 will be the fastest charging electric vehicle on the market. The EV6 will be capable of taking battery capacity from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes with a 350-kilowatt fast charger. One version of the EV6 GT-Line will be able to add 100 kilometres of range in less than five minutes.
The EV6 is a technological marvel inside, too, as you'd expect. Passenger space is absolutely abundant thanks to a flat floor, and cargo space is plentiful: 520 litres behind the second row; 1,300 litres with the rear seats folded. We'll know more about pricing, availability, and trim specifications in the coming months.
Hold on to your hats. The future of Kia is almost here, and it's approaching fast.
