With the arrival of the all-new, fourth-generation 2021 Kia Sorento, X-Line makes its first appearance in Canada. X-Line, however, is more than just a trim level – it's a distinct Sorento.
The 2021 Sorento will still be available in a range of other models, and all will include all-wheel drive and three rows of seating. But with an off-road twist, the X-Line bridges the gap between the affordable entry-level LX+ and value-packed LX Premium on one end of the lineup and the upmarket EX, luxurious EX+, and top-of-the-line SX.
What's it all mean?
- • The X-Line has an additional 1.3 inches of ground clearance.
- • The X-Line stands 3.3 inches taller overall than other Sorentos, in part due to that increased ground clearance; in part due to its bridge-type roof rack.
- • Due to more aggressive bumpers front and rear, the Sorento X-Line also offers superior approach and departure angles.
- • The X-Line is the most affordable 2021 Sorento with the 2.5-liter turbocharged engine: 281 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque.
- • The new 2.5T produces 23% more torque than the V6 it replaces while consuming between 10-12% less fuel.
- • The X-Line is also the most affordable 2021 Sorento to make the switch from a centre bench to second-row captain's chairs for a personalized 6-passenger layout.
- • While the LX+ rides on 17-inch wheels and the LX Premium switches to 18s, the Sorento X-Line runs a bold set of 20-inch alloys.
Like other Sorentos, the X-Line's all-wheel-drive system provides multiple drive modes, including the all-important snow mode. There's also an AWD Lock mode that evenly splits power between the front and rear axles for optimal traction in especially tough situations.
As for standard features, the X-Line slots into the middle of Kia Canada's 2021 Sorento lineup. Considering that even the most affordable 2021 Sorento LX+ is absolutely stuffed full of features, you know the X-Line is going to be the very definition of "nicely equipped." Here's the rundown of just some of what's included in the new Sorento X-Line.
